Morning Bible Note 12/15/07

Today's reading was from Revelation 20.1-6. The scene is the binding of Satan for one thousand years. My devotional guide, which I usually enjoy reading, suggests that the thousand year reign should most likely be taken symbolically. Due to my previous theological training and background, I have difficuty with this suggestion. A literal, grammatical and historical approach would lead me elsewhere for an interpretation. That being said, I am once again reminded of the soveriegn hand of God moving through world events. That being said, I am reminded of these words in my reading today. "Security is not the absence of danger, but the presence of God, no matter what the danger." (Unknown, in Encounter With God, for Saturday, December 15, 2007)
