Here is the list of breakout session topics and leaders during our upcoming annual conference at Grace Baptist Church on May 14.
Saturday Morning Breakout Sessions
“The Church Planting Pipeline” (Ron Markloff)
This breakout session will discuss how The Pipeline, The Pastor, and the Church work together to tell the story of how active church planting could again become part of the ministry culture of Mission Mid-Atlantic.
“Impacting Women in the Facebook Era” (Teri Van Shoick)
Keeping your womens ministry alive, vibrant and fresh across generations. How do you make the most use of your ministry toolbox? Come and learn practical ways to achieve your goals.
“Introduction to Relational Elder Training” (Jim Leary)
Join us and discover what Relational Elder Training is and why it was created; how the Relational Elder Training is designed to be used in the local church; review the scope and sequence of the Relational Elder Training, and the Requirements for its use in a local church. Attending this session does not obligate you to use the Relational Elder Training in your church.
“Elements of An Inspiring Worship Service” (Matt Russell/Compelled)
This breakout session will be discussing what goes into preparing and leading a creative and inspiring worship service. We will be discovering what that means both practically/physically and spiritually.
Saturday Afternoon Breakout Sessions
“Generations: The Newest Form of Diversity” (Aaron Nygren)
Traditionalists. Baby Boomers. Gen Xer’s. Millennials. Why do they often clash with one another? What are some value based communication strategies to move them forward as ONE? You’re trying to “manage” a group of people with different socio and economic backgrounds, ethnicities, educations, geographies, personalities,
political affiliations, etc. You begin to wonder if the difficulties have anything to do with what generation they are from. Come learn the basics of these 4 common-yet
distinct groups of people in this Generation 101 session. Discover that when it comes to “generational differences,” no one is necessarily wrong-they’re just different!
“Sexual Strugglers in Our Churches: Will Our Leadership Be a Help or a Hindrance”
(John Freeman, Executive Director of Harvest Ministries USA)
There are many pressing problems begging for your attention as a leader. Yet, nothing will do as much damage to the spiritual life and vitality of your people, as their unspoken and, therefore, unaddressed struggles with sexual sin. How can one be fully engaged in or enthusiastic and excited about things of God and the work of the church in light of these crippling struggles? As God’s leader, what messages are you giving about the forgiveness and power of the gospel to these increasing numbers among us and how is that message being incorporated into the ministry of the church? We often acknowledge the damage that hidden struggles with pornography, same-sex attractions, and other sexual addictions do to individuals and families - but this workshop will show what the church misses out on when our people are bound up by these problems and struggling in silence. It will also unfold how the local church can begin to come up with strategies to minister in this much needed area.
“Becoming A Planting Church Without Splitting Your Own” (Ron Markloff and others)
So you're considering becoming a church that would birth another church in your area but don't know what the next steps are. Or perhaps you're worried that going down this road would strip your church of core people, drain financial resources and leave a leadership vacuum. You're not alone! Every church has these concerns as they explore becoming a reproducing church in the New Testament model. This session will tackle these and other related issues as you consider and become a planting church.
“Nowhere Kids: Reaching the Generation with Everything Yet Nothing” (Dave Taylor, Director of The Door Ministries)
This session is designed for youth ministry or anyone working with children. Topics include increasing fatherlessness, broken families, emerging sexual and physical abuse, cutting and self-abuse, failing ministry methods, and tuning into a teens heart.
