Churches in the Mid-Atlantic Region Have A New Source of Support
Mid-Atlantic Conservative Baptist Association (MACBA) Expands Its Vision to Become Mission Mid-Atlantic
Churches in the Mid-Atlantic region have a new source of support as they continue to find ways to reach their communities with the Good News of the Gospel.
The Mid-Atlantic Conservative Baptist Association (MACBA), a regional nonprofit association, unveiled its new identity during the annual conference at the Sandy Cove Ministries and Conference Center in North East, MD on April 28 – 30, 2008. During the conference a new name and identity statement were approved: Mission Mid-Atlantic - A Diverse Fellowship of Churches United by Biblical Mission.
Mission Mid-Atlantic will focus on four action statements as a result of its new identity. The fellowship of churches will develop new churches, cultivate church leaders, build healthy churches and assist pastors and churches in crisis. The group will also spend more time reaching out to urban and ethnic churches throughout the region.
“Our desire is to plant and build strong churches,” said Mission Mid-Atlantic Regional Executive Director Dr. James E. Leary. Mission Mid-Atlantic’s vision is to grow to two hundred churches that share a similar Biblical mission by the year 2020.
“We are not moving from our core values as Conservative Baptists,” said Leary. “Instead, this new identity builds upon what we already are as a fellowship of churches.”
Mission Mid-Atlantic is a regional fellowship of churches in a covenant relationship with CBAmerica. CBAmerica exists to serve, resource and represent nine regional Baptist church associations across the United States, which includes Mission Mid-Atlantic. In addition, CBAmerica is a part of CBGlobal, a covenantal fellowship of eight national associations of CB churches around the world.
