We appreciated much of what we heard and there was also alot we could not appreciated because we have lived in a "white" culture.
Christians who view the documentary may be uncomfortable with some of the interviews, especially Zane (A female author of erotica) and Faye Wattleston (President of Planned Parenthood). In addition, it is difficult to discern an overall theme or direction for the film. This may be by design because the lack of structure gives interviewees greater freedom to tell their stories.
I gained a deeper appreciation for the struggles of my African-American brothers and sisters and believe the documentary can be used as a discussion tool to deepen understanding within the body of Christ.
The Black List will premiere Monday, August 25 at 9:00 PM on HBO. I am interested in your thoughts and reactions after you view it.
